dsh-sidebar-frog: A Popout File and Artifact Sidebar for DeepSeek Harness
zengqingsong/dsh-sidebar-frog
A popout sidebar DSH plugin for DeepSeek Harness that combines an artifact ledger with a workspace file tree, plus offline previews, CodeMirror editing and a read-only Git slice.
dsh-sidebar-frog adds a sidebar to DeepSeek Harness that keeps the files an agent created or edited, and the workspace behind them, within reach. It targets scattered artifacts, previews that force you out of the interface, and a sidebar that feels too narrow: click a file to preview it at full panel width offline, or pop the whole sidebar into its own browser tab and drag it to a second monitor, where both windows share one session and one set of settings. Maintained by zengqingsong under MIT, it has zero runtime dependencies, makes no network requests and collects no telemetry, reading and writing only inside the workspace.

What Does It Do?
Popout Sidebar is a DSH plugin for DeepSeek Harness that keeps the files an agent created or edited, and the workspace it did it in, within reach in a sidebar. It solves the problem of scattered artifacts, previews that force you out of the harness, and a sidebar that is too narrow: click a file and it opens at full panel width with an offline preview, or pop the whole sidebar into its own browser tab and drag it to a second monitor. Both windows share one session, one workspace and one set of settings, live. Maintained by zengqingsong under the MIT license, it has zero runtime dependencies, makes no network requests and collects no telemetry, reading and writing only inside the session workspace.
Core Features
- Pop out to a second monitor: one click moves the entire sidebar into its own browser tab, with session, workspace, settings and divider position shared so the two windows never drift apart.
- Previews that work offline: code, Markdown with math and diagrams, PDF, HTML, images, sortable CSV tables, Word / Excel / PowerPoint, and audio and video with HTTP Range. Every renderer is bundled, so there is no CDN and no network call.
- An artifact ledger: files the agent wrote or edited appear on their own, including files produced indirectly by a shell command, and edited files keep their before/after hunks with Undo living there.
- The workspace file tree: it takes over the system sidebar's own Files tab, so
@-references into the composer, the context menu and per-directory refresh sit where you already look. - Editing and saving in place: Markdown, plain text and CSV open in a CodeMirror editor with
Ctrl+S; the save is fenced to the workspace, checked against the version you opened, and restores the file's own line endings and byte-order mark. - A read-only Git slice: branch, ahead/behind, and the changed / staged / untracked / conflicted lists, with a line-level diff against HEAD for any file. Read-only is a hard boundary: no staging, no commit, no checkout, no discard.
How to Use This Plugin?
After enabling it on the web profile of DSH, restarting the service and hard-refreshing the browser, the right sidebar gains five tabs — Files, Artifacts, Jobs, Usage and Git — and a permanent File tree button appears at the bottom of the left column, which is also how you enter the sidebar from a brand-new session. In daily use, open a file the agent just wrote from Artifacts and preview it at full panel width; switch to the Files tree to reference files into the composer with @; edit Markdown, plain text or CSV directly in the editor and save. When the sidebar feels too narrow, hit the pop-out button and drag it to a second monitor, since both windows share the same session and settings. The plugin targets DSH 0.1.5-rc.2 on the web profile, and installing runs no build script.
How to Troubleshoot This Plugin?
A 401 from a preview or data route usually means the request is missing the browser cookie — data routes are fenced with the cookie exactly the way the product's own /api is, so access them with the cookie present. If the interface does not change after installing, restart the DSH service and hard-refresh the browser as described in the official instructions. If a preview library fails to load, note that every renderer is bundled rather than fetched from a CDN, so check the local bundle instead of the network.
