Adds ungrouped, workspace-free sessions to DeepSeek Harness: one click opens a session that occupies no project workspace while keeping DSH's native composer, model, permissions and attachments.

dsh-plugin-noworkspace-session is a DSH plugin that fills in ungrouped sessions for DeepSeek Harness. Native DSH requires every session to belong to a workspace, so an ungrouped session counts as blank and its composer is disabled; this plugin temporarily attaches the new session to a workspace named after its own directory to unlock the native composer, then removes that temporary workspace after the first message so the session lands under Ungrouped and stays resumable. Model selection, permissions, attachments and slash commands all remain native, and each session gets its own subdirectory as its cwd under a working folder that defaults to ~/Documents/dsh and can be changed or reset in settings.

What Does It Do?

It is a DSH plugin for DeepSeek Harness that adds sessions without a workspace, letting you open a session that occupies no project workspace in one click. DSH natively requires a session to belong to a workspace, so an ungrouped session counts as blank and its composer is disabled; this plugin temporarily attaches the new session to a workspace named after its own directory to unlock the native composer, then removes that temporary workspace after your first message so the session lands under Ungrouped and stays resumable. It is maintained by yusunz under the MIT license and targets DSH 0.2.0 and above on desktop and web.

Core Features

  • One-click ungrouped sessions: a "work outside a workspace" button on the hero row and a card on the right sidebar's start page trigger the same flow.
  • Native composer preserved: model selection, permissions, attachments and slash commands all work as usual, because the plugin only registers on incremental seats and replaces no native control.
  • Per-session working directory: every new session gets its own subdirectory under the working folder as its cwd, so ungrouped tasks never interfere; the default is ~/Documents/dsh.
  • No leftovers: an abandoned temporary group disappears immediately, and its empty directory is reclaimed on the next DSH start, while a directory holding files is never touched and sessions are never deleted.
  • Configurable folder: Settings → General → no-project task folder shows the current path and supports change and reset, taking effect immediately.

How to Use This Plugin?

After enabling it in DSH, click the hero-row button or the card on the right sidebar's start page to create an ungrouped session, then type your first message straight into the native composer; attachments follow the native path. The session opens in the main view rather than as a right-sidebar tab, since DSH's right sidebar registers everything against the current session and has no seat for a conversation surface. To move the storage location, change or reset the path under Settings → General → no-project task folder. Abandoned blank sessions follow DSH's native rules and stay invisible in the sidebar until they have messages.

How to Troubleshoot This Plugin?

If the new entry points do not appear after installing, the host half-code is only loaded at process start and the client bundle may still be stale: restart DSH and hard-refresh the page as described in the official instructions. If the button seems to do nothing or the composer stays disabled, check whether the first message has been sent, since the temporary workspace is only removed afterwards. If no session tab shows up in the right sidebar, that is a known limitation rather than a fault, and the session opens in the main view.
