dsh-git: A Git Panel Always at Hand in DeepSeek Harness
weidows/dsh-git
Adds Git to DeepSeek Harness: a repo/branch chip in the composer, a header button, and a sidebar Git panel for staging, committing, history and diffs.
dsh-git is a DSH plugin that embeds the Git workflow directly into the DeepSeek Harness conversation UI, so you no longer bounce between editor and terminal. It targets the friction of checking branches, staging changes, and writing commit messages in separate external tools. Once enabled, a branch chip beside the composer and a Git button in the conversation header open a split panel: stage and commit files in the repository's own folder tree on the left, browse commit history with branch lanes on the right, and inspect diffs at the bottom.

What Does It Do?
Git is a DSH plugin for DeepSeek Harness that brings repository status, staging, commits, and history into the conversation UI. It solves the friction of switching between editor and terminal to check Git state, letting you see the current branch, changes, and commit log right inside the harness. Its core pieces are a branch chip beside the composer, a Git button in the conversation header, and a split sidebar panel with staging, commit, history, and diffs. Maintained by Weidows under the MIT license, it was last updated on 2026-10-22.
Core Features
- Branch chip: sits in the composer trailing cluster and shows the repo name, current branch, ahead/behind markers, and a dirty dot; clicking it opens the Git panel.
- Split Git panel: the top-left pane lays out staged and unstaged files as the repository's own collapsible folder tree, with single-file or bulk stage/unstage, discard behind an inline confirm, a commit message box, and AI-generated messages using the Harness default model.
- Commit history: the top-right pane offers a branch switcher, text filter, continuous branch lanes drawn down the left edge, expandable rows listing each commit's files, and a right-click menu for copying hashes, soft/mixed/hard reset, and revert.
- Diff viewer: the bottom pane shows the patch for whatever you click, whether a working-tree file, a staged file, or one specific file inside a commit.
- Narrow-screen support: below 720px the two-column grid collapses into one stacked column, panes keep their own scroll, and per-file actions stay visible on touch devices.
- Sidebar compatibility: when better-sidebar is present, the panel registers through its tab API and skips the native right-sidebar tab, so you never get two Git tabs.
How to Use This Plugin?
After enabling it in DSH, a branch chip appears in the composer; click it or the Git button in the conversation header to open the Git panel. Stage files on the left, write a commit message, and press Ctrl/Cmd+Enter to commit. On the right, click any commit to expand its file list, then click a specific file to see only that file's diff at the bottom. If better-sidebar is installed, the panel registers as a tab there automatically, and other DSH plugins can open it through the exposed tab API.
How to Troubleshoot This Plugin?
If AI commit-message generation fails, the Harness most likely has no default model configured; set one up per the official instructions and retry. If you see a tab-kind-already-registered conflict, it means a native tab and a better-sidebar tab share the same identifier; the plugin avoids this with separate identifiers, so keeping better-sidebar enabled prevents duplicate registration.
