dsh-rhine-splash: A Rhine Lab Style Boot Splash for the DeepSeek Harness Desktop App
respawn-id/dsh-rhine-splash
A Rhine Lab style boot splash for the DeepSeek Harness desktop app, playing a two-act ~4.5s intro with theme-aware visuals, four exit animations, and configurable text, accent colors, and duration.
dsh-rhine-splash is a DSH plugin that adds a boot splash to the DeepSeek Harness desktop app, playing a roughly 4.5-second Rhine Lab style sequence before the main interface loads. It turns a plain startup into a two-act narrative: an access-verification act followed by a terminal welcome screen, with four randomized exit effects — doors, decode, glitch, and iris. The plugin follows the harness light/dark theme, never blocks startup, can be skipped at any time, and lets you override title, accent colors, duration, and exit animation in configuration. It is MIT licensed and zero-dependency.

What Does It Do?
Rhine Lab Splash is a DSH plugin for DeepSeek Harness that plays a roughly 4.5-second Rhine Lab style boot animation before the desktop harness main interface loads. It solves the problem of a plain, unbranded startup by giving every launch a short two-act sequence with an access-verification narrative. The visual language references the Arknights special footage "Rhine Lab: Access" — warm white background, black wordmark, restrained orange accents, and archive-style technical annotations — with all graphics original or programmatically generated. It is maintained by Respawn-ID under the MIT license and ships as a zero-dependency bundle.
Core Features
- Two-act narrative: an access-verification act (REQUESTING ACCESS → PERMISSION AUTHORIZED) followed by a terminal welcome screen (WELCOME TO / DEEPSEEK HARNESS / INTERNAL TERMINAL).
- Four exit animations: doors, decode, glitch, and iris, randomized by default so the same one does not repeat twice in a row.
- Theme aware: reads the harness light/dark setting and ships separate background assets for each, or can be pinned to light or dark.
- Non-blocking startup: it exits only after the main interface is ready, respects a maximum wait, and can be skipped by click or keypress at any time.
- Respects system settings: when reduced motion is enabled, it shows a static frame and fades out.
- Configurable: title, subtitle, HUD code, accent colors, duration, max wait, and exit animation can all be overridden.
How to Use This Plugin?
After enabling it in DSH, fully quit and reopen the harness and the splash plays automatically on startup with no further action. To adjust its behavior, append an override block keyed by the plugin id in the profile patch configuration — for example to change the main title, accent color, exit animation, or duration. This layer applies after all bundles and works for any install source. Note that an override replaces the entire config block, so omitted keys fall back to defaults; color values must be quoted and durations must be YAML numbers. With a local-directory install you can also edit the config block inside the repository, then restart the harness.
How to Troubleshoot This Plugin?
If the animation does not appear, first confirm the Rhine Lab splash toggle is on in the plugins page and that the profile configuration lists the bundle; that file is for inspection only and should not be edited by hand. If behavior breaks after a config change, the override syntax is usually at fault: unquoted color values get treated as YAML comments, while durations written as strings, outside the 0–15000 range, or a max wait shorter than the duration all fall back to defaults, and unknown keys are simply ignored. When a command-line install fails to write, the harness is usually still running and holding the profile — fully quit it as described in the official instructions and retry.
