What Does It Do?
OpenWrite is a DSH plugin for DeepSeek Harness that brings long-form novel writing into the harness, from planning to finished manuscript. It solves the problem of scattered characters, settings, outlines and drafts by keeping them in a local project directory while a unified writing agent drives the work. Maintained by LiPu-jpg under the Apache-2.0 license, it ships a unified creation agent, roughly 90 novel tools, a native workbench and a standard review DAG covering planning, drafting, reviewing, revision, model testing and export.
Core Features
- Unified creation session: organize ideas, characters, worldbuilding, layered outlines and foreshadowing in one session while maintaining the project canon.
- Manuscript workbench: chapter navigation, continuous reading, text editing, selection annotations and highlighting, internal state and relationship markers, autosave and version protection.
- Standard review DAG: six-domain review with issue localization, revision diffs and re-review, plus a DAG view of flow, dependencies and evidence.
- Model testing: run multiple models independently and cross-review on selected chapters or outline scopes, comparing quality, reliability and cost with candidates kept in isolated copies.
- Research and retrieval: search project materials and reference libraries, and manage research reports, canon and writing memory.
- Import and publishing: import legacy drafts, migrate projects, create full backups, and export to Markdown, TXT or EPUB.
How to Use This Plugin?
After enabling it in DSH, open OpenWrite from the sidebar, wait for the environment to become ready and pick your project directory; the entry point creates an OpenWrite creation session automatically, and clicking Create opens the workbench without sending a message first. For daily work use /progress and /write-next to track and continue chapters, /review-chapter and /revise-span to review and revise selections, and /foreshadow, /canon and /learn to query foreshadowing, canon and writing memory, then export with /export-book. The chat model is configured in the DSH host, while novel generation and review models are added under Tasks → Models with provider, model name, endpoint and API key; existing drafts can be brought in from Tasks → Import & Export.
How to Troubleshoot This Plugin?
Installation and environment health checks do not require a model API key and never call a writing model, so if chat, generation or review produces nothing, first confirm that a working provider and key are configured under Tasks → Models. Stop DSH before upgrading and check the host compatibility notes for the target version; if the host is incompatible, follow the official instructions to use the last matching verified exact version instead of upgrading the host automatically. Global model settings from older development installs are not migrated into the managed environment automatically, so follow the official installation guide to migrate them while keeping your manuscripts, custom presets, credentials and other plugins.
