dsh-custom-brand: Replace the Sidebar Brand Slot in DeepSeek Harness
dyguests/dsh-custom-brand
A DSH plugin that replaces the DeepSeek Harness sidebar brand mark and wordmark with your own icon and text, configured from a single JSON file and applied on refresh.
dsh-custom-brand is a DSH plugin that takes over the top-left brand area of the DeepSeek Harness sidebar, swapping the default whale mark and wordmark for your own icon and name. It targets the situation where the brand slot cannot be configured and editing core files is risky, shadowing the official slots at a lower priority so the original branding returns as soon as it is disabled or removed. Icons can render as a silhouette or in full color, while size, corner radius, main text, badge and colors all live in one JSON file, applied by refreshing the page with no rebuild.

What Does It Do?
dsh-custom-brand is a DSH plugin for DeepSeek Harness that replaces the sidebar's top-left brand slot — the default whale mark and "deepseek HARNESS" wordmark — with your own icon and text. It solves the problem of an unconfigurable brand area without touching core files: the plugin shadows the official slots at a lower priority, so disabling or removing it restores the original branding instantly. Core capabilities include covering both the mark and name slots, two icon modes (silhouette or full color), configuration from a single JSON file, and refresh-to-apply changes with no rebuild. It is maintained by dyguests under the MIT license and supports both the Web and desktop (Electron) clients.
Core Features
- Dual slot coverage: takes over both the sidebar brand mark and brand name, and keeps working when the sidebar collapses to a 56px rail.
- Two icon modes:
glyphrenders the image as a silhouette tinted withcurrentColoron a transparent background, whileimagekeeps the artwork's original colors for use as an avatar. - Single-file config: icon path, size (12–48px), corner radius, main text, badge, font size and badge colors all live in
$DSH_HOME/dsh-custom-brand.json, generated automatically on first run. - No rebuild needed: the icon version is bumped by file modification time, so editing the JSON and refreshing the page is enough.
- Non-destructive shadowing: overrides the single slot at a lower
prioritywithout modifying core files orapp.asar, and disabling it restores the original. - Local assets and privacy: icons are read by the local Harness and served over a local route, never uploaded to a server, and no external requests are made.
How to Use This Plugin?
Confirm that the brand plugin is switched on in the DSH Plugins page, then refresh the page to see the default custom brand slot. For everyday customization, edit $DSH_HOME/dsh-custom-brand.json: point mark at an absolute path, a ~/x.png path, a path relative to $DSH_HOME, or an http(s):// or data: image, then adjust markMode, markSize, name, badge and related fields and refresh to apply. The plugin also exposes local routes for reading and writing the config directly. To return to official branding, simply toggle the plugin off in the Plugins page; several alternative silhouettes ship in the assets/ folder for quick swaps.
