dsh-playwright: Real Browser Control for DeepSeek Harness Agents
akash-digitavision/dsh-playwright
Wires the official Microsoft Playwright MCP into DeepSeek Harness so DSH agents can drive a real browser for navigation, clicking, typing and screenshots.
dsh-playwright packages the official Microsoft Playwright MCP as a DeepSeek Harness bundle, so every agent on a profile can drive a real browser. It addresses the problem of agents being unable to operate web pages directly: navigation, clicking, typing, snapshots and screenshots all run through structured accessibility trees, locating elements without any vision model. It uses your installed Chrome headed with a persistent profile by default, and also supports headless mode, Chromium and extra capability flags without interfering with DevTools-style plugins.

What Does It Do?
It is a DSH plugin for DeepSeek Harness that bundles the official Microsoft Playwright MCP, giving every agent on a profile the ability to drive a real browser. It solves the problem of agents being unable to operate web pages directly: navigation, clicking, typing, snapshots and screenshots all work through structured accessibility trees, with no vision model required. Maintained by akash-digitavision under the MIT license, it targets DSH ≥ 0.2.0-rc.2 bundles API and runs on Windows, macOS and Linux.
Core Features
- Browser tool set: exposes
browser_navigate,browser_snapshot,browser_click,browser_type,browser_take_screenshot, plus tabs and network request tools under themcp__playwright__*namespace. - Accessibility-snapshot driven: understands pages through structured accessibility snapshots, so no vision model is needed to locate elements.
- Uses your installed Google Chrome by default, running headed with a persistent profile.
- Coexists with
dsh-chrome-devtools: separate tool namespace and a separate browser instance. - Optional launch flags:
--isolated,--headless,--browser chromium,--caps=vision,pdf, and a full JSON configuration option. - No accounts, no API keys, no telemetry; network access is limited to whatever pages you browse.
How to Use This Plugin?
After enabling the bundle on a DSH profile, agents automatically gain the Playwright browser tools; ask one to navigate to any page and take a snapshot to confirm it works. On first start the MCP server downloads through npx, taking roughly 30 to 60 seconds, and about 1 second afterwards. To change behavior, append launch flags to args in cordis.patch.yml, for example headless mode or Playwright's bundled Chromium. Requirements are Node.js ≥ 18 with npx, plus an installed Chrome or Chromium.
How to Troubleshoot This Plugin?
- The first tool call hangs for a while: this is the normal first-time npx download of the MCP server; wait 30 to 60 seconds and later starts will be much faster.
- Configuration edits do not take effect:
file:dependencies are copied into the profile by pnpm, so reinstall dependencies as described in the official docs before re-applying. - Browser tools are missing from the tool list: confirm the bundle is enabled on the profile and check the plugin list for the corresponding
